Malachite Jones is still keeping up his ruse as a pretend psychic medium, with a second life as an unwilling detective aided by his best friend, Jackie. He certainly doesn’t want to take on a missing persons case. And he definitely doesn’t want to take on two. But what choice does he have?

Missing person number one is Daniel Jerrings, whose family is owed a favour by Trolley Mick, the premier gangster of the Blades Edge housing estate. The catch? Trolley Mick wants Mal to pay the favour.

Missing person number two is Spider, someone Jackie knew from the military. And though Jackie doesn’t really do friends (other than Mal), he does do loyalty and that means Mal does too.

Once again, Mal and Jackie aren’t the only ones on the case. Plenty of others are looking for the missing people, and with violence lurking around every corner, things soon get out of control.

Discovering the truth of how the two missing people’s cases are connected means sinking deeper into the grimy world of organised crime, where everyone has something to lose. It’s getting harder and harder for Mal and Jackie to see a way out.
